Boys room progress (part 2)

Sunday, October 26, 2014

We are slowly making more and more progress on our boys' bedroom.  The rest of my family was gone this week.  Yeah, I know you are jealous!

It left a lot if free time so that I could paint their Star Wars canvases.  I also squeezed in a huge abstract 3' x 4' for my neighbor and maybe some shopping and happy hour with a good friend.

It looks fabulous in her 2 story stairwell.

We spent this afternoon installing wood toned Ikea Lack floating shelves and galvanized letters.

My cute little helpers!

M&L love this arrow shelf.  I am not sure where it's going, but I have to find a spot for it since they love it so much.

Boys' Room Progress

Sunday, October 19, 2014

I hope you had a great weekend.  We certainly did!  We managed to make a lot of progress on the Boys' Bedroom by painting the walls, changing out their bedding, finishing their headboards, installing varsity font wall decals, painting a lamp and hanging some art.

Lots of blogs out there will show one huge room reveal, but I thought I would use more of a One Room Challenge style of update and show you our progress as we go along.

This picture was taken before I painted the lamp.  You will get to see it red in the next round of photos.

Next I will be working on Star Wars canvases that will be part of a gallery wall. I already purchased the materials.  While at Michael's I scored an awesome pocket watch style red wall clock. I also placed on order for Ikea Lack wall shelves in red and super cute wall sconces.

Navy & Yellow Fall Family Photo Outfits

Saturday, October 18, 2014

We are getting excited for our Fall Family Photo shoot with Shannon Foster Bradley.  We usually get our pictures taken at Joyner Park in Wake Forest but I think this year we will try out Shelley Lake in Raleigh.

We went on a family outing to the mall last night trying to get the remaining pieces for our outfits. This year we are going for a navy and yellow or gold color scheme.

Have a great weekend!

Fall Family Photo Shoot

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Hey guys!  If you follow me on Pinterest then you know that I have been scouring the web for outfits for our upcoming Fall Photo shoot with Shannon Bradley.  Sometimes I wish that I was the type that could put our whole family in jeans and a white shirt...but I am not.  I agonize over our outfits-design boards, laying them out on the floor, test shots, etc.  It is a little ridiculous.  Ok, it's a lot ridiculous.  But all of the prep work means that I LOVE our photos when they are done.

I also make sure that our outfits coordinate with our living room.  I know, I know, more ridiculousness. But I made the mistake before of getting pictures taken in grey and black and hated how the photos looked in our blue and brown living room.

Check back tomorrow for the Outfit Design Board.

Red White and Blue Boys bedroom inspiration

Sunday, September 14, 2014

Hey guys!  It's really starting to feel like Fall around here which means it's time for football, Pumpkin Spice Lattes and jambalaya!

My oldest, who is 5, has asked me to decorate his room.  Clearly we watch a lot of HGTV around here.  I love a red, white and blue boys bedroom and that's how Nick's bedroom was decorated as a kid too so it has special meaning.

We already had a full size upholstered headboard for M's bed and just needed to recover it with different fabric.  We went on a quick field trip to the new Premier Fabric store in Raleigh and scored this navy link fabric.

Linked Blue White

Premier Prints had an awesome selection!  It was very tough to decide.

I had completed the design boards below too and used these to let the Mason & Lucas decide what they like best.  They love being involved in the process.  I have ordered vinyl wall decals for each of them too.

One headboard is done! One to go!  Then we need to build cornice boards.  I am sure we will head back to Premier Fabrics in Raleigh.
