2021 Home Goals

Wednesday, January 27, 2021

We accomplished a lot in our home in 2020! It's amazing how much you can get done when you are staying safe at home. I couldn't let January pass by without reflecting on last year.

Screen Porch

  • Added pony walls and a shiplap faux fireplace with TV to the screen porch
  • Painted the entire porch
  • Poured a concrete patio for the grill and fire pit
  • Added new shrubs and landscape rock to the back yard

Master Bedroom

  • Completed our Coastal Grandmillennial Master Bedroom makeover complete with wallpaper and board and batten. This was a big DIY project that we completed in six weeks as part of the One Room Challenge.

Join the Coastal Grandmillennial Decorating Group on Facebook

Kitchen

  • Replaced all the hardware on the kitchen cabinets

Foyer

  • Installed closets in the front foyer. Can you believe that this house didn't have a coat closet? I'm sure you are thinking, "Well, you have a mudroom." Our mudroom is tiny! This is just a sneak peek of the foyer as it is still a work in progress. The dog den doors still need to be built and a new light will be installed.

Bonus Room

  • Added a wall and pocket door to the loft to turn it into a bonus room. The main point of this was to help reduce the noise. Boys are LOUD when they play video games. This room still needs window treatments and more zhuzhing, but the boys love this space and there is oftentimes 6-8 boys hanging out in here.

Our Home Goals for 2021

  • Convert the dining room into a home office.
  • Convert the office into a guest bedroom.
  • Replace the light fixture in the foyer and finish the dog den built-in.
  • Add board and batten in the foyer and possibly wallpaper.
  • Design and install a hood for the kitchen.
  • Add board and batten plus wallpaper in the downstairs bathroom, new vanity, light fixture, and hardware.

Personal Happenings in 2020 - Robin Warzywak Interior Designs

This one is at the top of my list. I re-opened my services for interior decorating in Wake Forest, North Carolina. If you are looking for an interior design refresh in Wake Forest, Raleigh, or anywhere in the Triangle, please reach out to me. I also offer e-Design services for those of you that are not local.

Another major happening of 2020, that was not so positive, was saying goodbye to our dearest Tucker. He lived to be 15 and a half years old and had a great life. We still miss him dearly.

Thank you for following along on my journey!  I'd love to help you put the finishing touches on your home.

One Year Housiversary - Porches and Exterior

Monday, October 19, 2020

Happy Monday!  I'm back with more of our one year housiversary updates.  Geesh! We have really accomplished a lot in one year.  Maybe that means that next year we will just sit back, relax and enjoy our house. Yeah right! Who am I kidding?  Let's get back to the updates. Come on in!

We intended to paint the house navy or dark gray after we bought it, but that plan has been put on hold.  We decided some smaller updates could make a big enough difference that we would be happy with the curb appeal. We had our awesome contractor Erik add molding over the garage door to help fill the gap between the windows, painted the front door SW Naval, added our furniture, and hanging ferns.

Porch Fireplace DIY

Monday, June 29, 2020

I think this weekend might be the first time that I have experienced a DIY fail :(  Lucas and I spent almost 3 hours (not to mention the cost) to create this succulent wall insert.

I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. Something is just off.  I'm debating on turning it into a wall hanging.  Or adding some sort of tile around the firebox to make it look bigger. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Porch Updates

Friday, June 19, 2020

One of the top appeals of our new house was the fabulous screen porch.  We had a great screen porch on Everstone (our last house) as well, but this one is even bigger. We had one little issue though, it didn't have a wall for Nick's TV but now it does.

As you can see, we had our contractor install a shiplap wall to add privacy and to give us a wall in which to hang a TV.

Dreaming of Summer

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

I don't know about you, but after 2 weeks of snow I am dreaming of Summer. There's nothing better than relaxing on the porch or patio with a ice cold beverage.

Winter Patio

Sunday, November 16, 2014

Hey ya'll!  Are you getting in the Christmas spirit yet?  I am!  Although, I don't agree with Santa Claus coming to the mall before Thanksgiving, I must admit I have been humming Christmas Carols.

Have you seen Emily A. Clark's Winter Patio on the Home Depot Apron blog?  I am in love!  It made me think of jazzing up our screen porch for the winter.

Isn't it stunning?!?

Here's what I have to start with:

Since this is our view from the sliding glass door all winter, I think we should give it a Wintery Wonderland feel that we can leave decorated well after Christmas.  Although I love Emily's Red and Black scheme, that wouldn't flow with our grey, teal and white scheme inside.

Here is what I have in mind:
